Our collection
Consisting of some 650 pieces, the Museum’s collection of objects notably includes some tools only used in the cottage industry of cheddar making and its export, as well as a number of pieces of furniture, dishes and kitchen utensils belonging to the Perron family that date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Various other objects related to social history and decorative arts complete the collection.

The Museum also houses a large number of archival pieces of cultural and historical interest. This archival and pictorial collection brings together handwritten and printed documents, sound tracks, and also a large number of photographs illustrating the local cheese industry and dairy production in Lac Saint Jean.

Through donations over the years, the collection continues to grow. In the short term, the Museum plans to collate and digitalize its collection. By doing this, it will be able to integrate it into the Infomuse network of the Société des musées québécois (Quebec Museum Society), and so make it accessible to other museology institutions and to researchers.
